We’ve had a number of recent enquiries from our customers with reference to learning more about how things operate within the spirits industry. I wanted to provide details for anybody who may be interested in training foundation courses and have provided the detail for you to inquire direct.
The WSET head office and WSET School are located in London. The address is Wine & Spirit Educational Trust, International Wine & Spirit Centre, 39-45 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3XF, telephone number: + 44 (0) 207893800, e-mail: wset@wset.co.uk.
They provide a number of courses to suite all levels of candidates from the novice to the professional. I’ve outlined some examples below of the kinds of courses available:
Level 1
Foundation certificate in spirits - this is a one-day course, which provides basic product knowledge and skills in both service and marketing of spirits which can be useful to prepare a person for the first job in hospitality or the spirit industry.
Level 2
Professional certificate in spirits - this spirit course provides a greater depth and in depth knowledge within spirits and liqueurs.
Level 3
Advanced certificate in wines and spirits - provides a more comprehensive coverage of the wide range of the wines and spirits around the world. The qualification has an increased focus on tasting technique.
Level 3 International Higher Certificate in Wines and Spirits
This qualification is available through international WSET providers only. It is also available in several different languages.
Level 4
Diploma in wines and spirits. The diploma is a specialist qualification where detailed knowledge is also combined with commercial elements and a thorough system for the professional evaluation of wines and spirits.
Level 5
Honours diploma. The WSET level 5 honours diploma is an individual research project which enables students to develop skills in research, evaluation and analysis in a wine and spirit related subject of their choice. This qualification is open to anyone that holds the WSET level 4 diploma.
Please note that if you wish to enquire in connection with wine courses at level 1 and 2 these are also available.
I hope you find the above useful and informative.
